BCARS: Help to move on

Sleepsafe is a winter emergency beds scheme for rough sleepers who want to make a change in their lives.
9 church venues were used to provide space for 12 beds each night over 22 weeks of the winter.

The most basic level of support was to enable “Sleepsafers” to make better decisions through reducing the sleep deficit and making them feel more human such as showering.  But we also used the “Half-time” person-centred support to bring out aspirations and a belief that they can have a different future not continuing to do the same things that led to them being on the street; the help included getting a birth certificate/ID, volunteering at Life Works, accessing addictions support including Teen Challenge
