Here are some questions that people ask us
If you can’t find the answer here, give us a call on 01202 429037
Q. What geographical area do you cover?
A. Currently we work mainly in the Bournemouth-Poole-Christchurch conurbation; but we also look after Foodbanks in Wimborne and Blandford, we run the Dementia Friendly Community in Blandford, and are working to help churches become Dementia Friendly all over Dorset.
Q. Are you part of a national organisation?
A. No, we were originally inspired by the Faithworks Charter put out by Oasis Charitable Trust that encouraged local churches to make a difference in their community. But, the charity that was set up here was, and is, independent.
Q. So, how did Faithworks start?
A. Faithworks started life in 2004 when two visionaries, one a Borough chaplain and the other a senior manager in Adult Social Services, saw the passion and potential of individuals and churches to respond to those in need in their community. They started a befriending project in North Poole, and formed Faithworks Poole (as it was then) as an independent charity.
Q. Do you only work with Christians?
A. No, our goal is to provide our services for anyone who is in need. And we are delighted to have volunteers on board of faith or none.
Q. Do you come from any particular denomination?
A. No, we are independent of any Christian denomination. We are members of the UK Evangelical Alliance and our CEO attends many of the local Churches Together groups.
