RACHEAL | SMILE PROJECT FACILITATOR
What does your job title mean?
I get to facilitate fun days out for lone parent families and meet lots of new people in our local community.
Where did the SMILE project get it’s name from?
It’s an acronym which is Single Mothers In Loving Embrace. Our founder, Alix, was the genius behind this! Overall SMILE is a support community for lone parent families, meeting and encouraging each other to live Hope-filled lives.
How would you describe your working day to a child?
I read lots of emails, go on Facebook quite a bit and meet lots of lovely people in the community!
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Not much because I love my bed! But seriously, knowing that the work I do can add a smile to a kid’s day who might be going through a rough time.
What is your favourite film?
Why did you want to work for Faithworks?
It happened by accident but that is where God has called me to. And I feel very blessed.
When did you last cry with laughter and why?
When watching a video back of me saying ‘good evening’ to Ronan Keating when he walked past me.
How do you relax when not at Faithworks?
A good book in the bath or gardening.
If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
I would be an Orca because they are amazing, all that swimming in the sea and the beautiful sights they get to see!
What was your last favourite meal?
Nandos – I love getting the chips, the spicy rice and the sweet potato burger and halloumi and making a jambalaya out of it with lots of hot sauce!
How can people support you in your work with Faithworks?
Spreading the word of SMILE to friends. Not only does this help get new clients to support but also opens the web of venues and organisations that can help us too!
Any final words?…
Thank you to everyone I work with for making my job a joy!
